While preparing to leave for college, write a list of those things you plan to take. Preparing everything you need before going to college so you do not have to ask your parents for help all the time. This is really true if home is far away.
Carry a personal water bottle to school. It is essential that you remain hydrated all day long. If you have little or no downtime between classes, this is an absolute must. Being hydrated helps you to think clearly and learn more efficiently. The sheer number of water fountains these days allow more ease in refilling water bottles.
Secure college funding sources, such as scholarships, loans and grants, ahead of time. Sometimes the deadlines are very early in a student’s high school senior year. This money can be very important. Figure out a system that allows you to manage your finances and allows you to apply for things quickly.
Don’t overestimate your abilities when planning out your schedule. If you’re a night person, you will never succeed in attending early morning classes. Schedule your classes to fit into how your brain works throughout the day.
Remember to keep eating healthy. There is no myth behind the freshman 15. Eat healthy and refrain from eating fast food. Avoid eating too much junk food and fast food. Although this may see seem like a quick and affordable solution, the pounds can slowly start to creep up on you. Also, you won’t be receiving the energy that you need in order to perform at your best in class.
Stay out of credit card trouble by paying off your balance each month. This will keep you from incurring late fees. Generally speaking, credit cards should be reserved for emergency situations. While you may wish to use it for entertainment, remember that you’re at college to learn. Debt can cause you to lose focus.
There is no one to wash your clothes and feed you anymore. Make sure to eat nutritious foods, get adequate sleep and clean up after yourself. You should stay on a schedule, make time for study, your classes, having fun and cleaning, etc. Eating poorly and being stressed out will make you ill.
Wait until class starts to buy recommended reading outside of the primary textbook. In some cases, you might not need all the books listed on the syllabus. Online classes are the epitome of this. Many times, online readings and lectures will be enough to succeed in the class.
